do you think this is a Nigerian Scam?

I'm well aware of these scammers and their tricks..and this girl im talking to..from a dating site..well she seems to be doing all the tricks..wether its coincidence or not I don't know..but some of the typical things are...she is originally from the US..Living with her granny as her parents died..She is very pretty..she needs a loan of money to renew her passport and come meet me via western union.( I won't be doing this ).when i said i would mail the money she objected and said she wouldn't recieve it..and she gave me a postcode that was 5 digits......heres the tricky part for me....I have seen her on cam and she is real...and I have spoke to her on the phone, I have this number...So could it all just be coincidence ?

100% scam.

There is no one originally from the US, (her grammar and spelling are horrible), her parents are not dead and she never had a passport.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

She always tells you the exact day and time she will be online and refuses to be on cam at any other time, that is because she is chatting with 2-6 guys at once and wants to save on the cyber cafe fees by scamming as many men as once via cam. Ask her to be online at a totally different day and time and she will have a dozen excuses as to why she can't or why she missed the time.

Watch carefully when she is on cam, she will type a lot more than the few words you receive. She calls you love, sweetie, babe, etc, that is because she can't be bothered to remember you name while she chats up several guys. She also uses a lot of "text chat", lol, lmao, etc, that is also because she is in a hurry and can't be bothered to pay attention to what you are really saying.

The next email was from one of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses and has demanded you pay, in cash, and only by Western Union or moneygram for her fake passport fees.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on her 'potential sucker' list, she will try again to separate you from your cash. She will send you more emails from her other free email addresses using another of her fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. She will sell your email address to all her scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the chat ID, email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

If you google "cam girl Western Union scam", "fraud Western Union passport scam" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.
