I want to date this mormon girl, but I'm a liberal Jew?
I'm 17 and she's 16. She's a really pretty, smart, funny girl, and I think she likes me. We've been friends for awhile now but I'm scared to make a move, because of our VERY different spiritual views. It's not so much the no sense before marriage thing that worries me, (albeit I don't like it, but we're only in high school), it's the difference in our backgrounds. She's gone to Christian camps, mormon dances, and apparently her father is a very respected member in the mormon community. Meanwhile I've never said grace or gone to a Sunday service once in my life! I met her mom once and she seemed pretty nice and normal, but still the whole conservative mormon lifestyle is really foreign to me, and kinda freaks me out.
My parents wouldn't stop me, but I don't think they'd really approve either. So should we give this a shot? And if you know more on mormons and their dating customs, could you please tell me?
I have limited knowledge of both religions but think you should leave this alone unless you do some research on the mormon faith. Some do date & marry outside their faith but it causes a lot of friction. I do know non-mormons are not allowed into their temples. Also the bible warns of mixing faiths into a relationship.
