Many times, companies will lose fortunes or even go out of business if a major product is found to be unsafe. What would you like to see as criminal liability for a scientist deliberately falsifying scientific reports?
Note that there have been virtually no criminal complaints to date despite many documented cases. There have been many instances of scientists losing their jobs because they had the integrity required to tell the truth. At many government agencies, there is clear prejudice against certain beliefs regardless of the truth.
Oh yeah, absolutely. Science is supposed to be just that, science. It's SUPPOSED to be based on FACTS not OPINIONS or purposefully false ideas for SELF GAIN.
