Why ask atheists about the fossil record? Most won't know much in detail about it.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with carbon dating, so I've no idea why you've mentioned that. Carbon dating is utterly irrelevant.

One method of estimating the divergence time of two lineages is to study the molecular similarities and dissimilarities of different organisms. That will give you some idea as to how recently the last common was alive. You can then compare that with what might be available in the known fossil record. Quite often, for many lineages but not all, the dates from both independent sources -molecular comparison and latest possible date based upon the first known appearance in the fossil record- are pretty close. There's typically more disparity for birds and mammals for unclear reasons. Molecular comparisons tend to come up with date estimates that appear too old.

I've no idea why you've included a link to some archaeology page. As well as having nothing to do with atheism and carbon-dating, your question also has no connection with archaeology.
